Product Description

Normal serums are lipid extracted to improve clarity, dialyzed against phosphate buffered saline (PBS) containing sodium azide, and freeze dried. Normal serum diluted to 5% (v/v) in PBS is strongly recommended as a blocking reagent to reduce background from non-specific, conserved sequence and/or Fc receptor binding. Best results are obtained with diluted normal serum from the same host as the labeled antibody, as a separate incubation step before addition of the primary antibody.

Physical State: Freeze-dried solid
Storage: Store freeze-dried powder at 2-8°C. When ready to use, rehydrate with indicated volume of d. water and centrifuge if not clear. Product is stable for about 6 weeks at 2-8°C as an undiluted liquid. Prepare working dilution fresh each day. For extended storage after rehydration, aliquot and freeze undiluted product at -20°C or below. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing.

Expiration date: one year from date of rehydration. However, the expiration date may be extended if the product is stored according to the recommendation and the test results are acceptable for its intended use.

Preservative: 0.05% Sodium Azide

High Quality and Safety Standards

Our Normal Chicken Serum is produced following stringent quality controls, including sterile filtration and negative mycoplasma testing, to ensure optimal purity and reliability. Each batch exceeds 99% purity and is carefully examined for endotoxin, maintaining levels under 1 EU/mL. The serum comes in aseptic, tamper-evident bottles to guarantee integrity during handling and usage.

Versatile Research Applications

This serum is widely used as a blocking agent in immunoassays, including ELISA and Western blotting. It effectively minimizes non-specific binding, thereby improving assay precision and reproducibility. Its characteristic properties also make it suitable for use in tissue culture and other research protocols requiring a reliable control serum.

FAQs of Normal Chicken Serum:

Q: How should Normal Chicken Serum be stored upon arrival?

A: Normal Chicken Serum should be stored at -20C or lower immediately upon receipt. This preserves its quality and extends its shelf life up to two years in unopened, properly stored conditions.

Q: What is the main purpose of using Normal Chicken Serum in laboratory settings?

A: It serves as a control serum and primarily acts as a blocking agent in immunoassays such as ELISA and Western blotting, helping to prevent non-specific binding and improving assay accuracy.

Q: When is it appropriate to use this serum as a blocking agent?

A: Use Normal Chicken Serum during immunological procedures where minimizing background noise or non-specific interactions is critical, such as during the blocking steps in ELISA, Western blotting, or tissue culture experiments.

Q: Where does this product stand in terms of purity and safety?

A: This chicken serum has a purity greater than 99%, is sterile filtered, tested free from mycoplasma, has endotoxin levels below 1 EU/mL, and contains no added preservatives, ensuring both safety and performance for sensitive experiments.

Q: Can this serum be used directly, or does it require any preparation?

A: The serum is supplied filtered and aseptically packaged, so it can typically be used directly after thawing. Should further dilution be required for specific protocols, use sterile buffers under aseptic conditions.

Q: What are the benefits of using Normal Chicken Serum in immunoassays?

A: It provides effective blocking of non-specific sites, leading to reduced background and enhanced signal clarity, which enhances the reliability and reproducibility of immunoassay results.
