SHEEP BLOOD Defibrinated - R111-0050
Sheep Blood Defibrinated Description
Defibrinated sheep blood is aseptically collected and prepared to order from our colony of animals. Fibrin is mechanically removed during the clotting process without the presence of anticoagulants or other additives. Defibrinated sheep blood is ideal for blood agar plate preparations. Blood Agar is a general purpose enriched medium often used to grow fastidious organisms and to differentiate bacteria based on their hemolytic properties. Defibrinated sheep blood is perishable and is collected and processed upon receipt of your order.
Sterile sheep Blood Defibrinated
This product was aseptically drawn and processed using sterile equipment and sterile techniques. The product was tested on trypticase soy agar for 24 hours, 48 hours and 72 hours and was found to be negative for bacteria.
Store defibrinated sheep blood at 4° C prior to opening. Use aseptic technique to maintain sterility when opening product. Be advised that blood is a perishable product and exact shelf may depend on application.
Ideal for Mueller-Hinton agar preparations as well as other blood agar plate preparations

High Purity for Reliable ResultsSheep Blood, Defibrinated, is prepared with purity exceeding 99%, meeting stringent research and diagnostic requirements. The blood is collected via aseptic venipuncture and mechanically defibrinated, ensuring minimal risk of contamination and clot formation. This level of care results in consistent, reproducible results for your laboratory and clinical applications.
Optimal Packaging and StorageSupplied in sealed sterile containers starting at 100 ml, our defibrinated sheep blood is easy to handle and preserves its integrity during transit and storage. It is essential to store the product between 2-8C without freezing to maintain its quality over the 12-month shelf life. Proper storage ensures the bloods suitability for sensitive microbiological and diagnostic uses.
Safe Handling and Biohazard ComplianceThe product is non-poisonous yet classified as a biological product, necessitating disposal as biohazardous waste. Adhering to recommended biohazard procedures safeguards laboratory personnel and ensures compliance with regulations, thus promoting a safe laboratory environment.
FAQs of SHEEP BLOOD DEFIBRINATED:
Q: How is defibrinated sheep blood collected and processed?
A: Defibrinated sheep blood is collected from healthy sheep using aseptic venipuncture techniques. The blood is then mechanically defibrinated to remove fibrin, preventing clotting and making it suitable for laboratory use.
Q: What are the main applications of this product?
A: This product is primarily used in microbiology culture media for growing bacteria, in diagnostic testing, and for various laboratory research applications requiring high-quality blood without clotting factors.
Q: When should I use defibrinated sheep blood instead of whole or clotted blood?
A: Defibrinated sheep blood is preferred when the presence of fibrin or clots could interfere with your experiments or cultures, such as in microbiological assays where uniform distribution of blood components is essential.
Q: Where should I store defibrinated sheep blood and under what conditions?
A: Store the blood at 2-8C in its original sealed sterile container. Avoid freezing, as this can compromise the quality and functionality of the product.
Q: What is the process for safe disposal of this product after use?
A: All used or unused defibrinated sheep blood must be disposed of following biohazard waste protocols, as it is a biological material that could pose health risks if not handled correctly.
Q: What pathogen safety measures are implemented with this product?
A: The sheep blood is screened for common pathogens, ensuring a lower risk of contamination for laboratory usage, but it is still classified as non-sterile and should be handled accordingly.
Q: Why choose this product for microbiological and diagnostic work?
A: With a purity of at least 99% and rigorous collection and screening standards, this product provides reliable, reproducible results, making it a trusted choice for critical microbiology and laboratory research workflows.
